Methods: The study was designed as a short review identified from the Cochrane Controlled trials register, MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PubMed, Science Direct and Web of Science from January 2000 till December 2021.
Results: Systematic short reviews showed that especially therapeutic ultrasound (US) as well as extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) would be appropriate for the treatment of the patients suffering from CS. The findings showed that ESWT was clinically more efficient for reducing plantar pain and for functional improvement of foot health status in people suffering from chronic CS. Conclusion: US and especially ESWT must be considered as the first step of treatment for CS associated with inflammatory of plantar fasciitis. In summary, the results of the short review provide the evidence that patients with CS can obtain significant health benefits to foot care with ESWT.
