Building Electricity
High energy consumption in residential buildings is one of the major problems in developing countries, which has economic and environmental impacts. Energy consumption in Iran is high due to social and cultural conditions. According to available statistics, about 150,000 to 200,000 new residential units are built annually in the country. Since the building sector, consuming more than 40 percent of the total energy produced in the country and spending an amount equivalent to 30 percent of the income from oil sales, has the highest energy consumption, therefore optimizing energy consumption in buildings will have positive effects on the family and national economy. The most energy losses in residential and apartment units are related to external walls, which can be prevented by implementing energy waste solutions. Today, buildings built in developed countries are rated in terms of energy consumption. For example, in Australia, houses are evaluated by a computer program for optimal use of energy and are so-called given stars. That is, to the extent that a building is optimal in terms of energy consumption, that building is given stars to the same extent. In our country, you can also take steps towards energy efficiency by choosing an optimal building.
Building Electricity
Living rooms and rooms that are used most often should be located on the south side of the building. In this way, you can use natural sunlight and get the most benefit from the sun's heat in winter.
It is better for the reception, dining, sleeping and living rooms to be located on the south side and the rest of the rooms such as the kitchen, bathroom, storage room and the like to be located on the north side.
In order to reduce heat loss, the chimneys in the building are closed and a central heating system is used instead of steam.
A direct path for the movement of outside air in the building is planned to help cool the building in the summer.
Rooms that have similar uses are located next to each other. Especially rooms that have special uses are separated from the rest of the rooms. This helps you to heat only the rooms that you live in.
Parts of the building that need water are located close together. These parts include the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. This reduces the length of the water pipes and as a result, less heat is wasted from the hot water pipes.
The ceiling is low to a height of 2.7 meters. If this has not been done, you can lower the entire ceiling or only some parts. For this, you can use false ceilings. High ceilings increase heat loss. Most of the heat generated by the heater or radiator is collected in the ceiling and the lower part of the room where we are is not heated. In this case, both energy consumption increases and the comfort of the residents is not provided.
If it is not possible to reduce the ceiling height to 2.7 meters, installing a ceiling fan helps a lot in heating the house. Turning on the fan in winter at low speed not only does not cool the house, but also uniforms the room temperature by pushing the warm air collected under the ceiling down and reduces heat loss.
In a multi-story building, staircases should not be placed in spaces that need heating, because in this case, warm air will rise up the staircase path and be wasted. The staircase parts should be separated from the living environment by a door.
The building is made of heavy materials that have a high thermal capacity, such as concrete and brick, which increases the thermal stability of the house, meaning that the air inside does not get too cold or hot when the outside temperature changes.
As far as possible, windows should be installed on the south side of the building and any obstacles should be avoided in the way of sunlight and heat. It is better to keep the size of the windows as small as possible.
The windows on the north side of the building should be as small as possible. Because the sun does not shine from the north, and installing these windows will only cause more heat to be lost.
To cool the building in the summer, it is better to allow air to move freely throughout the building when necessary. In this way, on days when the outside air is cooler than the air inside the building, the building can be cooled without the need for air conditioners or other cooling devices. So it is better to have windows that can be opened a large amount.
To prevent heat loss from windows, double-glazed windows should be installed in places where curtains are not possible or where there are large windows.
There should be awnings, mats, or opaque coverings on southern windows to prevent the heat from entering, and eastern windows should be controlled from the outside with mats, curtains, or opaque coverings.
Make the most of natural light from southern windows.
The walls of rooms and other parts of the building should be painted in light colors.
The living room and rooms that are used most often should have fluorescent or energy-saving lamps.
The building should not have multiple lamps in the ceiling because electricity consumption increases and replacing them is expensive.
A separate switch should be used for each lamp.
The Future of Building Electricians and the Job Market
All office, commercial, residential, educational, etc. buildings need wiring and access to electricity. On the other hand, the duties of a building electrician are not only wiring and supplying electricity to the building, but an electrician must be able to install all kinds of audio and video iPhones, CCTV cameras, burglar alarms, automatic doors, and electric shutters. In this way, the scope of activities of a building electrician is very wide, and this has made building electricians one of the most prosperous technical jobs and there is no possibility of its saturation. People refer to specialists and electricians for all kinds of electrical work, as a result, a professional building electrician can earn a very good income.
If we want to talk about the future of the building electrician job, we can point out that the use of all kinds of iPhones, automatic doors, CCTV cameras, and other electrical equipment and systems will continue in the future, and people will need professional electricians to use them.
On the other hand, the construction industry is prevalent in most cities in Iran, and given that all these buildings require electrical wiring and smart equipment, professional electricians will take care of all these issues in the future. In order to continue your work as a building electrician in the future, you must increase your skills day by day and learn how to wire and install various types of automatic doors, burglar alarms, iPhones, CCTV cameras, building lighting systems, PLCs, and other new systems that enter the market so that your job market does not decline.
