What is turning?
Turning is the English term for metal forming by cutting or using a turning machine. In this method of metal forming, metals that are generally cylindrical in shape are rotated with a certain force and speed, and by moving the turning blades on the metal, the operation of removing iron filings is performed at a certain depth and speed.
The location of the movement of the piece, or the axis of the piece, can be a straight line along a general set of curves and angles. Generally, the terms turning and boring are used for larger families of operations called turning. In this article, we will examine a community of turning operations to fully familiarize you with these services. Please stay with us until the end of this article and read the contents carefully to have complete information about turning. Turning can be done manually or with a lathe. One of the most famous and widely used machines in this field is the CNC machine, which has attracted the attention of many people and is used in many lathe workshops.
When turning is done on a relatively rigid part, a turning tool is passed through one, two, or three axes of motion to create a diameter with a precise depth. Turning can be done inside or outside a cylinder to produce tubular components.
Turning Process
Turning processes are generally performed with a lathe, which is one of the oldest and most widely used tools. Turning is done in four ways. These four methods are: cylindrical turning, conical turning, weld inspection, and external groove.
This operation can produce various shapes of the workpiece, such as cylinders, cones, curves, or grooves. In general, simple single-point cutting tools are used.
Turning parts
These parts have circular cross-sections, such as simple rods and other simple ones, as well as twisted rods, washers, bushings and the like. Which include the main parts of machines and technical devices. A large number of devices such as milling blades, drills, drills, taps also have circular cross-sections.
Therefore, the specific materials that turning parts must have are made of various materials such as steel, cast iron, bronze, brass, copper, light metals, wood or synthetic materials and materials like these that have been mentioned. Also, the condition of the outer surfaces of turning parts is different. The forms of turning parts are made through different processes, which also have different applications. And turning parts are divided into two categories: external and internal chips.
External chip
Cylindrical parts are made by cutting length and width, conical parts are made by cone cutting, and finally shaped parts are made by cutting shapes and screws are made by screw cutting.
Internal chip
The most common lathes are the conventional lathe or bird-shaped lathe. Different types of work are turned and lathes are divided into different groups.
What is a CNC lathe?
A CNC lathe is a machine tool that is generally used to cut and shape wooden and metal parts. Due to economical production with high precision and also the quality of the lathe, most machine parts have circular sections and can be produced with a lathe. On the other hand, it is cheap and has a high speed of turning compared to other methods. Using a lathe is a standard method in this industry.
