Complementary Medicine

Complementary medicine:

A set of treatments and therapeutic methods that are used in addition to official medicine (scientific and modern) as supportive and complementary methods to improve health and treat diseases. These methods are typically used alongside and as a complement to conventional medical treatments.

Types of complementary medicine:

Traditional medicine: Includes ancient therapies such as Persian medicine, Chinese medicine, Indian medicine (Ayurveda), and Greek medicine. These methods are mainly based on energy balance, medicinal herbs, diets, and manual therapies such as massage.

Acupuncture: Involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body for the purpose of regulating energy and relieving pain or treating disease.

Herbal medicine: The use of plants and natural extracts as treatments for various diseases and disorders. These medicines may be taken as oral supplements or topically.

Massage therapy: The use of various massage techniques to reduce pain, increase circulation, reduce stress, and improve flexibility.

Hypnotherapy: The use of hypnosis to change behavior, reduce stress, treat pain, and help with psychological problems such as anxiety.

Meditation and yoga: Mental and physical techniques used to reduce stress, strengthen the mind and body, and improve mental health.

Energy healing: Methods such as Reiki or ascetic healing in which specific energies are transferred to the body to facilitate healing processes.

In general, complementary medicine can be considered as part of comprehensive treatment, but it's use should be done in consultation with a doctor and alongside scientific and modern treatments.
